I'll start with the big news: After discussing it with Angelica and a core group of friends and community leaders I trust and respect, I've decided to run for a seat on the San José Unified School District Board of Trustees.
As you may already know, I've been exploring new professional opportunities and had submitted my resignation as San José Unified's Public Information Officer, effective July 1st.
The results of last week's primary election created an open seat on the school board in my trustee area, and as someone who cares deeply about education and public service, this presented a unique opportunity to serve the district that produced me in a new and exciting way.
The decision to run for this seat has accelerated the timeline for my departure from the district. As of this Friday, June 15th, I will be resigning so that I can focus on my campaign and new professional endeavors.
I'll have more to share about those endeavors soon. In the meantime, I'd be honored to have your support for our fledgling campaign. Here's three things you can do right now:
1. Take our survey. We want to hear from students, parents, employees, and community members.
2. Sign up. We have a plan to win in November, and it starts with YOU.
3. Get us started. Make a donation to help launch our voter outreach efforts.
Just like votes, every dollar counts in a close race. There's no limit to what you can give, but every donation is like gold to a campaign that values people over politics. That's the kind of campaign we want to run.
Thank you in advance for joining us on this journey. Stay tuned for more...
P.S. I'd also be honored to have your endorsement of our campaign. Please visit my website to add your name today.
