Not our time

Because you've stuck with me throughout this journey, I'm going to be blunt: We got beat.

Don't get me wrong. We had an experienced team, a strong message, and a well-crafted game plan...

  • We knocked on more than 6,300 doors and had 2,500 conversations with voters at their homes.
  • We sent 2,000 hand-written postcards and 700 personalized letters, and we distributed 99 yard signs
  • 206 individuals gave their hard-earned dollars to support our efforts, and we didn't take a dime from PACs or special interests

But in the end, it wasn't enough to overcome nearly $100,000 in outside spending by those very same groups aligned behind our opponents.

So where do we go from here? Well, I hope you won't get discouraged by this result. After all, we have a number of progressive victories to celebrate at the local, state, and national level.

And I don't plan on going anywhere. In fact, I have to chair tonight's San José Planning Commission meeting, which means I have a packet to finish reading.

I hope to connect with you in real life very soon. Thank you for everything.
