After checking the vote count this morning, it's clear that we will not be moving on to November. While we made a very strong showing, it wasn't enough to overcome the deep pockets and special interests who made significant investments in this race. But there's no reason for us to hang our heads. We left it all on the field.
I want to congratulate my fellow candidates for running a clean campaign that focused on the issues affecting our streets and neighborhoods. I'm proud to count them among my friends and colleagues, and I wish all the best to whichever two candidates end up in the runoff.
Thank you once again from the bottom of my heart for your friendship and support. I'm excited about the opportunities we have ahead to fight for a San José that works for everyone. And I'll be sure to keep you posted about what comes next for me — other than planning my wedding!
I hope to see you soon in the community.
